R A Diamond

GEMOLOGY

Diamonds are graded in 4C’s universally– Cut, Color, Clarity & Carat. These factors combination determines relative rarity & value of the diamond.

Cut

  • The most crucial factor for diamond quality is, its “CUT” in 4C’s grading system.
  • A proficiently cut diamond with complete, balanced and uniform facets will boost its shine.
  • Exceptional cut on a rough diamond turns it into an admirable masterpiece.
  • Technical expertise and artistry are required to create perfect angles and proportions.
  • A well-cut diamond can appear more brilliant and valuable than one that is larger or rarer in color.
  • On a scale from Excellent to Poor as graded by GIA, the cut is something which entirely deciphers a diamond’s natural ability.

Color

  •  The second most important, from the 4Cs of diamond is “Color”.
  • Diamonds are graded in shades scaling from D (colorless and very rare), to Z (light color) with subtle differences between shades. The former colorless diamonds are crystal clear while the latter ones can have a warm hue to them.
  • Color grade reflects rarity rather than quality, offering a range to suit different preferences. The tone of metal might affect the appearance of diamond color.
  • A diamond’s sparkle can also influence its appearance, making beauty present in all color shades.

Clarity

Diamonds have been created by Nature’s unique way within the earth, millions & billions years ago. This formation results in natural imperfection referred as inclusions, impacts the beauty & value of the stone.Clarity refers to a diamond’s natural inclusions.Diamonds with fewer or none inclusions are deemed to have a higher clarity, ranging from the very rare FL (flawless internally and externally) to I, manifesting significant inclusions and blemishes.Clarity is balanced with the other 4Cs (cut, color, carat) when selecting a diamond.

  • FL, IF: Flawless, Internally Flawless. There are no inclusions or internal as well as external flaws.
  • VVS1, VVS2: Very, Very Slight Inclusions. Under 10x magnification, inclusions are indistinct & extremely difficult to locate, that means an excellent quality diamond.
  • VS1, VS2: Very Slight Inclusions. Under 10x magnification, inclusions are tiny or micro & not easily to locate which means quality is good.
  • SI1, SI2: Slight Inclusions. Without 10x magnification, inclusions are noticeable but less, if eye clean then are of good value.
  • I1, I2, and I3: Inclusions. Under 10x magnification Inclusions are obvious and easily visible to naked eyes which ultimately affects transparency and brilliance.

Carat

  • Diamond weight is measured in terms of CARAT, where one Carat is identical to 200 milligrams. Derived from the word, CAROB SEED which were used to mention diamond weight. Specific measurements are taken to 100th decimal place for complete precision.
  • The diamonds in larger shapes may be rare & more valuable, but carat alone does not regulates its worth, other factors out of 4C’s also plays vital role.
  • At R. A. Diamond, focus is on quality, instead of weight, so you can be sure that your diamond will be the most beautiful in the world.
  • This chart illustrates how round diamonds of different carat weights will appear when viewed from the top down. Diamond measurements may differ in other shapes from the chart in length/width ratio, table, and depth.
